Multibanco is a widely used Portuguese payment system available at ATMs, through online banking, and in some mobile banking apps. It works with a three-field reference: the entity, the reference number, and the exact amount to be paid.
This payment method is only available in Portugal 🇵🇹
How to pay with Multibanco on Libon?
Step 1 — Select Multibanco as your payment method
During checkout on the Libon app, choose "Multibanco" from the list of available payment methods.
Step 2 — Retrieve your payment reference
The app automatically generates three essential pieces of information: the Entity (5-digit number), the Reference (9-digit number), and the exact Amount to pay.
Step 3 — Note or copy this information
Keep these three details safe — they are required to complete the payment, whether via an ATM, your online bank, or your mobile banking app. You have a bottom that let you copy these codes easily.
Step 4 — Make the payment
Go to your banking service (ATM, online banking, or mobile app), navigate to the "Service Payments / Multibanco" section, then enter the entity, reference, and amount.
Step 5 — Payment confirmation
Once the payment is made, you will receive confirmation from your bank. The Libon app will then update your order status automatically.
⚠️ Important: Until the payment has been made and validated by your bank, your purchase will remain visible in the Home section of the Libon app, with a loading indicator. This means your order is awaiting payment confirmation.
Generally, the Multibanco reference is valid for 7 days from the moment it is generated. If you did not pay within the allowed time, the order is automatically cancelled
